Check out the exclusive behind the scene footage of my photoshoot with Sean Quincy for the CD Cover Artwork for my New single "Get Ya Head Right". Taking on the Artistic direction I didnt see myself in the photo but did have a strong visual idea of two females and a story.. The concept of the shoot was to highlight and bring attention to the Female who is always holding her girl friend down when she has had a little too much to drink/smoke. I felt this unspoken hero needs some praise so the entire aim was to focus your eye on the female in the front and not the back.. Take a look at the journey and Final Product. It was a great shoot which wrapped close to 5am in a bathroom at the Dream Hotel NYC

I introduce the "New Woman"

Society has only painted two type of women: House wife vs. Street Woman
This new woman isnt apart of the two traditional roles of either wholesome house wife or in the streets girl. This new woman challenges the traditions and believes in women independence and casual sex. She is the female version of a man. Some of these new age women still have a bit of old tradition but most dont. (Making another division). From the working career woman who is married and maintains a home with a husband to The working one who is single and experiencing life. Society hasn't painted this woman in our understanding yet which is why there is confusion and a bashing against them. Men are traditionally protectors and providers so now this new woman comes along and tells him she got it covered. He's displaced and becomes nothing more then a sex object, she actually ends up being the aggressor and he the passive one. Now he needs the emotional support and relationship. She doesn't and it's very common today. This new woman doesn't want to be tied down. She wants freedom and independence without judgement. She is only judged against the traditional labels already established which never saw the middle female, So need to box her. So a male like myself who is more traditional may not be compatible with the "new woman" and vice versa. I'd need the most traditional new woman. But this new female explorer will be criticized until she earns her place in peoples understanding of the "new woman". It's always been in the house or in the streets. This new woman is in the streets grinding and being exposed to new experiences, there is nothing wrong with this woman she is apart of the evolution of women transitioning from being a house wife to a career lady”

-I think at the same time a new male is evolving which will be compatible with this new woman but us traditional males will be in a serious conflict with them because we cant imagine a female becoming what we are, we are still apart of the old cloth. from sexual values to even physical features, piercing, tattoos she is an overall girl in power gone wild.. independent and tall, as common as the gay community is becoming notarized in society, this new woman and male will be as well. its all in transition as we speak.

Music and art are embracing blurring the lines and erasing the traditional ones which arent agreed with.. a new time is coming
Its very deep and interesting.. I hope you agree it a worthy outlook

I have known about Janelle Monae for quite sometime but never gave a chance to get into her. I can Say as I have grown musically my appreciation for music has grown as well. Recently and very randomly out the blue I was searching the web and came across Her new video "Tightrope". Her charisma and the vibe of the song made me want more. So I started digging. I found "The Audition" which I believe is an officially released body of work she has online and I fell in love with her. I attended a concert she had at Joes Pubb and made sure when her debut LP "The ArchAndroid" dropped I was in best buy supporting. Her entire being inspires me so much. It allowed me to see that many times quality music may not be found in the mainstream. Her fans support her because of her artistry and not because she is apart of a big machine shoving her down our mouths. I love her and am excited about the legacy she will leave in this generation.

Presice is a hip Hop Artist with much of a “Green” thumb. Starting a non proﬁt group in June 2008 Presice has since then been doing all he can to combine this “go green” message in his music and inspire today’s youth to attached the values that come along with environmental appreciation. Doing so Presice created the term “Eco-Swag” which he describes as an artistic fusion of environmental care and “swagger” an urban word used to describe having a cool factor. Understanding that today’s youth attach themselves to trend and things deemed as “popular” Presice always projects being cool is being you. In 2008 Presice had 3 successful community events, connected with a handful of well-known environmental groups and initiatives and dropped asong titled “A Mille Trees” which shortly after became the theme song for Mayor Bloomberg’s MilliontreeNYC initiative which allowed Presice to become the ﬁrst hip hop artist to Perform at EcoFest’s during their 20th Anniversary Celebration at Lincoln Center. In 2009 Presice began his Green Schools tour visiting publics schools in NYC to promote “Eco-Swag” and School Recycling. Later that year Presice’s next event was a success. Inspired by Sean Combs, Presice went on a 10-mile dedication run for the environment called “Jog for a Cause”. Kicking 2010 off Presice released a song titled “Barbershop Talk” which is growing rapidly and the music video is in post-production dropping in May. For April’s Earth week Presice started Monday the 19th very “Green” by releasing his second “Eco-Swag” musical installment titled “Reduce Reuse Recycle”. On Wednesday the 21st Presice released the long awaited music video titled “Be Cool Recycle In School” Ft. Middle School 113. Climaxing on Earth Day Presice held a memorable school assembly with his old high school Bushwich and at BET’s 106 & Park’s live Earth Day taping Presice had audience members wearing “Be Cool Recycle In School” T-shirts and was given a beautiful cameo and shout out by Rocsi herself thanking Presice for coming by on Earth Day and spreading the Earth Day Cheer. Ending Earth Week off on Friday Presice had an impact visit at The Green School in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn NY by performing and discussing being “the green you” with students. Presice deﬁnitely painted the City of New York “Green” this Earth Week and is making a lane for himself doing so.

The Life Or The Love.. "The Red Shoes"

I was invited to a movie today at a small film theater. The movie we saw was called "The Red Shoe". I wont discuss what the movie was about but I will say that it led to a struggle or conflict between the personal ambitions and the emotional desires. I began to think that it is most impossible to have the love you desire as well as the life together. By the way things seem it is as if you can only have one because your quest for the other will rip you away from one. I can personally say my desire for music may have been the result of my last breakup. It saddens me to feel this way. Especially because i desire the love and the life. The thing that made me the most upset was seeing how selfish the male was about his love for the female. He put her in a situation where she had to choose. I would never do such. It bothered me so much. She was torn between her love for her talent and her love for him, one of which she wanted all her life and the other she felt into. I left the movie theater disturbed because i believe that you can only have one. Life comes with situations that make it impossible to have both. Emotions are another thing that make it difficult, because you can have the life but emotionally lust for the love or vice versa. I have no answers I just know I dont believe you can have them both, or at least you cannot work for them at the same time. I guess if you reach one you can go for the other but I can only answer that successfully when I am in that space....

This is a movie that came out in 2001 which was an Anne Rice's book. It really had my emotions high. I dont know if you ever saw the movie before but it is very deep. very deep. I went off on twitter. I just know there is so much untold history and in my soul I feel the pain of those ancestors that I have lost. I dont want to get into detail again but please check out this movie. Its really meaningful and powerful and I can say I understand why other generations dont enjoy us using the word "nigga". One of my earlier post I mentioned Drake and Kid Cudi being two of my most recent inspirations as I grind towards success. Well in this case I have to say at the root of my passion there is a raw and uncompromised feeling that is kept alive by my admiration for Biggie and Tupac. I mean lyrically what else can I say about biggie. Well before I thought I was talented I had been a fan. Coming from Brooklyn Its the three gunners Biggie Jayz and Fabolous.

When it comes to passion and message within music, hands down Tupac is the most influential artist to me. As an artist all we have is our expression, so if we let the world limit that then as artist we are limited. I love Pac because he didnt allow the world to limit his feelings. I mean I cant say he contradicted himself like others do. I understand that we live a world filled with good and bad and we have to recognize them both. To me Tupac represented the balance. I think the closest artist to do so since him representing a similar balance is TI. Coming from the bottom also want to have that hollywood appeal and hood influence.
I think once an artist starts to think about the business it limits their artistry. Business comes with rules. There is no rule in Art.

Harmony while working towards success

I recently was having a some terrible thoughts about suicide and giving up on my goals. I got to a point where I noticed that I have become successful with being able to handle hardship and struggle but I am never able to rid myself of it. I was holding on to past issues that I was still waiting for the results, which was not allowing me to move forward. I am never one to give up or think negative and I can say I had a breakdown. I realized that the best thing for me to do was to let go of the past and keep moving forward.

The more you sit around and wait for results the longer it feels it is taking for them to come, and at the same time you are slowing down your present progress because you are still looking behind you and not infront of you.. I beat that challenge I was faced with by just letting go. I asked myself what was it that I needed at this point in my life to be happy and said I will just focus on that.

I also came to a place of thinking that success can be obtain within harmony. We are always told that we have to struggle to become successful and I dont believe in this anymore. Because with that thinking we allow ourselves to get abused by life and just endure these circumstances believing that this is what comes along with being successful. I no longer believe in this. I believe that one can obtain success while living in peace and harmony with life.

I can maintain my now and invest in my future, Strip your happiness to the bare minimum for the present and maintain it while you work towards your future. The goal in life is finding happiness for the present and maintaining it because the present becomes the future. If you choose not to, you put unnecessary pressure to become successful because of the conditions you have allowed yourself to go through..
